I'm a first time builder looking for a good gaming mid tower case. I would like it to have good air flow and be around the $150 mark, but the cheaper the better.

Here's what I've got so far:

The 500r can have 2x front, 1x bottom, 1x rear, 2x top 120 or 140mm fans. You can also have a 200mm fan on the side to cool off your GPUs.

Checkout the Corsair 540 air, around 120-150 depending, great direct path airflow by putting your low heat generating components in a side compartment, great design. Peoples only complaint is that there is only space for two 3.5" HDDs, however 4 spaces for 2.5" (SSD) drives.

Speaking of which, I would strongly suggest you get at least a 128gb SSD drive for the OS, apps, and a few games, you won't want to go back to HDDs again.

Samsung 840/850 have insane performance (500MB/s reads and writes).

You ask for good, under $150, that's easy, there is a considerable list of that. What you haven't stated is directions.

Are your tastes simple, elegant, quiet, loud, colorful, vibrant. Does it need a big window, any window, no window. Does it need to be quiet. Does it need to fit a color scheme. Black, colored, plain looking, subdued, 'hello wake up I'm here'.

What direction does it take?

If I had to choose, i would go with a more 'hello wake up I'm here' style. That said, I don't exactly have a preference. As long as it has good air flow and cable management for a beginner like me, then it is a good case.

I quite like the Obsidian Series 450d case, too bad i can't afford it. However the 500r is very nice as well. I am considering going for it unless someone can give a better case.

Fractal design define r4/r5 are good I like them a lot, they are very sturdy and the build quality is way up there. It's similar to the phanteks enthoo pro just made with more Metal and noise damping foam.

Fractal design define r4 is suppose to be quite good cooling wise, but I think its claim to fame so to speak, is the quietness.

If your top wants are cool and cable management, look up the corsair 540. Its top 2 marks are cool and cable management.

Good luck!

Hmm, I think i do prefer the white. I believe I have come to a decision. From what I've heard it's got good cooling, and is quite spacious. Hopefully I can buy the parts for this setup in the coming days. Thanks for the help everyone!

Thanks! The Corsair 540 is a bit too big though. With its dual compartments i won't really have space for my legs!
