Hey Guys. So I just bought a new mac and a new hard drive. The 1TB hard drive shows up in my mac, and I have partitioned it into two parts. One for the time machine and one for other files that I want to transfer from my old windows laptop. However, my HD is not showing up in windows explorer so now I can't transfer any files from my windows laptop to my mac. When I went to the disk management (windows), it shows up there. I can't do anything in the options but "Delete Volumes". (Format of hard drive in Mac: Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I want to be able to use my hard drive not only on my mac but for windows too but I don't know what to do. Thank you!

I have figured it out guys! It works but I'm not really sure if it's the best solution. What I did was just changed the format of the second partition for the files from MAC OS Extended to EXFAT 32 and kept the original format for the time machine partition. Thoughts?
Windows does not understand Mac file systems. You need a tool such as MacDrive or HFSExplorer.

Alternatively, you could format the drive as FAT32, but then you will be limited to file sizes of 4GB.

ISTR that Seagate provides a free tool for their drives, but I don't know about other vendors.
