Sound Loop and freeze, crashing to black screen after ctrl+alt+delete

Hi guys

I've just upgraded from a 770 to a 970 and a few games I've been playing such as Crysis 3 or The Crew run fine and smooth for 5 - 10 minutes and then play the National Anthem for crashing: Sound loops. Game freezes, ctrl+alt+del, black screen, forced reset.

my specs are:

amd 8350 4 ghz
Kingston 240 gb ssd
8gb 1333 ram
800w PSU

PS i'm not that tech savvy so please keep it simple thanks.

If you are using onboard sounds, good chance it's over heating and crashing. Did you check your temperatures?

Post your complete and detailed build.

Post your cpu temps - at idle, at gaming - from bios or your mobo (f you have one) uefi software.

Do a Checkdisk (Google it) on your OS drive (if you have one) and a virus scan (eg Avast, Malwarebytes)

GPU: GTX 970 Gigabyte Windforce G1 Gaming

Storage: 240gb Kingston SSD + 500gb HDD

CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

PSU: 800w Hiditec Iron ( I kinda cheaped out on this )

Idle temps: 25 Degrees C

AC Unity @ ultra-everything: 55 degrees

no observable viruses + cleaned PC twice with CCleaner

Both disks are fine + latest driver reinstalled

You shouldn't have that 8core on that motherboard. Get a 990fx mobo. Post the rest of it.

The case is an NZXT Phantom 410 with 4 fans and i have a Blu ray + DVD disk drive. That's all I can deduce from the parts.
let me know if you need more detailed specs and how to find them because i'm not all that good at tech thanks

From bios, what PSU voltages are you getting - 12v, 5v and 3.3v readings?

VCORE Voltage: 1.368V

3.3V Voltage: 3.403V

5V Voltage: 5.130V

12V Voltage: 12.182V

OK then your power supply is working OK. But you should still replace it with a better quality one.

Put the gtx770 back and see if you still get the same problems.

Thing is I sold it about a week ago. I have an old 270x I could use so I'll try that thanks

UPDATE: After checking the integrity of the local game files on my system, there seems to be nothing wrong with them. After I launch them, however, ( with 970 ) the secondary hard drive disappears and the games don't load. I'll have to try with my 270x
