My GA-Z97X-UD5H was working well, and I foolishly decided to experiment with the 'performance upgrade' setting in the BIOS. I tried 20%, and it worked great. So I tried 40%. Not so great. Now my system won't boot. I tried resetting the CMOS, but it still won't boot. So I switched to BIOS #2, got the computer to boot up fine, set some safe settings, and I'm good to go. BUT, I have one non-functional BIOS, and I'd like to have both working. How do I bring my first BIOS back to life? i5 4690K is my CPU.
TIA
Michael

Thanks, spooky2th. I am running the latest version (btw, my board is rev 1.1, and the bios is F8); I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to flash with the version I already have, but I will try that and see if it works.

OK, I downloaded BIOS F8, flashed it, and it didn't solve the problem. If I try to boot up with BIOS #1 I don't get anywhere, just a frozen screen. If I restart after switching the little onboard switch to BIOS 2, everything works perfectly well, but I'm worried that my main BIOS is corrupted. Any other suggestions?

Hey Michael/neatokino i believe the same thing happened to me just now. BIOS #1 wasn't booting, so i switched to BIOS #2 and everything is working fine. so i switched back to BIOS #1 and tried a few things.
if yours is fried like spooky2th said than whats the worst that can happen lol,

ok so first make sure its powered off disconnect all hdd/ssd,
next switch the second switch that's the one on the right to #2 and power on. it should give you 3 options

option 1 reset BIOS to optimized default and boot

option 2 reset BIOS to optimized default and reboot

option 3 enter BIOS

select option 1

now it should boot power off connect HDDs
power on it should work again power off and switch the second switch back to #1 and hopefully it works for you and you get your BIOS #1 back.

i tried a few other things before doing that. make sure both switches are on #1 power on,there is a blue button and a black button above the red/orange power button on the mobo. hold the black one down for 5 secs or so, release and push the blue button fast about 5 or 6 times until it shuts its self down. it will restart and you will see it trying to boot to BIOS

this didnt fix the problem but it was the first thing i tried .

next make sure its powered off remove RAM cards and HDDs then power on. power off and reconnect HDD and RAM.
putting RAM in different slots,

now try first thing i said again, switching the second switch to #2 but this time leave the HDDs plugged in and after try restarting a few times.

well i hope it works for you like it worked for me. best of luck
