So I have an SSD and that is working fine. Being that my Barracuda is brand new, I try to initialize it in disk management but I get this message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".

I've tried messing around with the plugs and using different holes and combinations/wires yet I always get this error message.

I've tried getting SeaTools for Windows but this application only detects my SSD and not my Barracuda.

In the Hardware tab of my Local Disk (C: ) properties I can see my SSD, and my Barracuda. I don't know if that means anything.

Anyone know what could be going on?

Hi there whalecream,

After you get the same error even after swapping cables and ports, it is most probably a DOA hard drive. I would agree with i7Baby and say that you should contact the manufacturer's support and eventually RMA the drive.

Hey guys thanks for answering, tried one last time and the thing still will not initialize. It's not detected in BIOS either I forgot to mention.

Anyway down the support road I go.

Cheers!
