What is bottle necking my system?

Basically I want to know what I should upgrade in my computer to allow me to get higher framerates in playing games and rendering animations. I think it may be partly my HDD's fault because it runs at 5900 RPM, but that's why I came here: to get help from an awesome community.

What temps is your CPU running at - idle & gaming - from your mobo uefi software.

Harddisk RPM wont impact frame-rate at all, but just game loading time. Your CPU is perfectly fine, so just upgrade your graphic card.

What would upgrading the PSU do? Would the RAM allow for more multitasking? Idle, the CPU sits at about 35C - 40C and while gaming, the temperature can reach up to 60C.

From my research the hd 7870 is = to a r9 270 but the i7-2600 is like a i7-4770
So it will most likely be you gpu that is bottlenecking

A better quality PSU would control the voltages better without overheating.

RAM is needed for gaming eg http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=4546&game=Watch%20Dogs

as well as multitasking and system tasks.

Yea I guess with the newer games coming out, they will require more RAM so that would be a good upgrade to get, but I don't understand how the PSU getting hot will effect the rest of the system.

Thats really depend on your budget and whats is on special in your area.
You can pick the GTX770/780 or the latest GTX970
or you can choose AMD R9-280/R9-290/R9-290X

You need to get a better quality power supply as well ($70). And ram ($80). That leaves $200. So get a gtx760.

Should I replace the RAM that's in my system or add to it? And if I upgrade my RAM, is 1333 going to be enough because that's all my motherboard can handle. If I need more speed then I will need to upgrade my motherboard as well or just run it at a lower speed until I can upgrade my motherboard.

No. I see now you have 2 x 4gb ram. So your ram should be OK. This means you van get a PSU and a $280 graphics card eg r9 280.

Ram frequencies doesnt make heaps of difference so 1333 is great
