Pre-built Gaming PC VS Gaming Laptop

Hello,

I need some help on deciding because I need a new gaming PC(also used for school work frequently). So for a week now, I have been researching gaming laptops that are good for $1000, I found the XoticPC's Phantom X1, but then I started searching for good pre-built gaming PC's. I do not need a monitor. I found Digital Storm's Vanquish II Level 3 to be a good deal, better than Phantom X1? Probably, but still, I need other people's input so here are the two, which should I get? I am on a $1000 budget, $1100 including tax/everything else. Note that I do not want to build my own PC since I do not have much time for it, maybe next year.. Anyways. (Also I was thinking of a laptop because I might to move a lot with it but I guess I can just use my old laptop.)

Thanks in advance.

The thing is, do you actually WANT to game on a laptop? Or is the laptop you have already just for like taking notes, following allowing on a prof's PDFs. Simple note taking. Or do you see yourself playing a match or 2 of something or rather in between classes.

If you aren't gonna be touching a game at all in school then go for the desktop. Seriously. They do have more power, and if it came down to it, in a year or 2's time, you can always swap out the video card for a lot less. Whereas a laptop, one and done, pretty much. No upgrade no nothing for a laptop.

Most of the parts from the digital storm desktop seem good enough that they'll last quite awhile. Upgrading the video card down the road just lets you stay on top of things as...

Otherwise, if you have a strict budget for a laptop then.... http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/

pretty much best spec for dollar.

I do not play games in between classes, mostly at home, sometimes at my friends (rarely). I guess I will go for the Vanquish then since I can upgrade and keep up. Thanks to everyone who replied but Warukyure had the answer I was looking for, thanks.
