I was reformatting my computer. i have 3x 2TB HDD's. i was formatting 2 of them and keeping one left over with my backup data on it. well i screwed up the reformat. (lost power) and i started over. well like a moron. i formatted my back up drive. rather than the one i needed to format. and i lost EVERY THING.

well i talked to a good buddy that's really good at these things. he said even though my HDD got reset back to 0'S there are programs that can recover a formatted drive. he showed me one. but it was 70$ the free version can only bring back. 2 gigs of im lucky. he said its rare to find a good program that can un-delete a formatted drive properly. I also heard it was impossible. but i keep hearing it both ways. I kinda believe my budy sense this is what he does. so i want to ask if there are free programs out there that people know that works. or a method i can use to undo my fuck up. no i havnt written any thing to the drive or touched it sense it happened. if its not possible please let me know that as well. i cant tell you how important it is i get that data back.

Theres plenty of free programs for that but I haven't found one that works as advertised.

I managed to screw up my external HDD, the partitions. Windows couldn't even find it. This was 2 days ago.
Stellar Phoenix brought back all the data. I tried 3-4 free programs, none of them were any good.

To be complete, heres the programs I tried that didn't cut it:
Recuva, Getdataback, Puran file recovery.
