friends, i wanted to set up raid-0 in z87pro motherboard for video editing purpose. I have my C:/ drive in SSD which I do not want to touch as there are many software installed. With the two Western Digital 6TB hard disks, I thought of setting up raid-0, following the manual. Intel rapid storage technology software was not installed previously while OS-installation. I could not successfully set up raid. Raid set up was not successful even after the intel rapid storage technology software installation.

A technician told me that I have to re-install the OS and copy some raid files from pendrive during OS installation. The manual says, "if you want to install windows operating system on hard disk included in raid, you have to create a raid driver disk and load the raid driver during OS installation," but i am fine with the present ssd (samsung). So i think i can directly set up raid without having to do anything with the installed OS.. is that right?

a friend suggested that I plug in the ssd to asmedia port and WD 6tb (X2) to intel port and in bios change AHCI to RAID to avoid re-installing the OS. But that also did not work...

intel-i7 4770
asus z87pro motherboard
1 ssd (boot)
2 wd 6tb hard drives (storage)

or is there a way that i re-link the installed software from my old ssd to new ssd like cloning?

Can u please help me fix the raid set up problem? thanks

Solution
You can do it in two methods. But you need to format the 6TB HDDs into the gpt format first. And you are better to connect the SSD into SATA III port0 (the 1st sata port), other hdd is in whatever SATA port. But not the ports that use the ASMedia controller.
Also in the BIOS you need set the storage mode into the raid mode, if you use the ahci mode before. Here is how to:
Restart the PC, during the boot, press "F8" enter the safe mode, in run command, type "regedit" to run it, then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM|\currentControlset\services\iastorA, click the iastorA, in the right panel find the "Start" key, right click and enter the "modify", change the "Value data" ( under Hexadecimal) from "1" to "0", if it is "0", you just click...

Try the same for the iastorf, iastorv, and msahci. After that reboot the PC, go to the storage section to change the RAID mode.

1) After you done, now you can reboot the PC, during the post, press the "ctrl" +"I" to set up the raid0 follow the step by step. And make sure you select the right driver for the raid.
2) Or you can use the intel RST to set up the Raid0 too, just boot in the window, open the RST, go to "create a custom volume", select the two 6TB to set up the raid0, make sure you use the 128K size.
For the 2nd method it will take longer time to setup the raid.

After you set up the raid0, and you can use the software to clone the whole SSD or the OS only into the raid if you want. Like EaseUS Partition Master Free 10.2 http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/epm-free.html but you may not clone the software only.
