I got this PC in 2007, the stock HDD lasted until late 2011 when it just died out of the blue. I replaced it and then that one died in 2013, and now the current HDD is dying as I speak right now. Hasn't even been a year since it's been replaced...

Is there anything that could be causing this? I don't move much data around at all, and I'm not a heavy downloader by any means.

My PC is Dell Dimension E520
MOBO WG864
Windows XP SP3 32 Bit

A 7 year old Dell-PC with the original PSU? (I would definitely replace)

Hey Miu. As you know HDDs are mechanical and they tend to wear out with time. There's always the possibility that they might fail sooner rather than later. There's not much that could be causing this. Make sure that the drive is well mounted to the case and that there aren't any excessive vibrations. Other than that this could be counted also as really bad luck. :(

Your drive is probably still in warranty so I'd suggest that you backup everything important ASAP and contact the manufacturer's customer support to ask about RMA.

Hope that helps.
