Hello everyone, i recently purchased a performance tuning proctection plan from intel for my i5 4690k :) so now i want to attain a mild but stable overclock. Honestly the sweet spot for me would be from 4.2-4.4 Ghz however im quite new at this and i dont even know know where to begin. I have an MSI gaming 5 motherboard that came with some pretty useful utilities such as the command center and extreme tuning but i dont feel confident enough to tinker with all the OC settings just yet. Please feel free to share any of your thoughts and experiences, thank you in advance!!

Btw here's my build:
i5 4690k with a Dark Rock Pro 3 high end cooler
MSI gaming 5 mobo
12gb pny xlr8 ram
MSI gtx 970
600 watt EVGA bronze
240gb samsung ssd
1tb WD blue

The I5 4690k will not turbo to 4.4ghz. 3.7ghz with 4 cores is the turbo, actually.

As for oc'ing, go into the bios, set the cpu voltage to ~1.2v and try a multiplier 46 (4.6ghz). If it does boot and pass stability tests and temps are fine, you can shoot higher. Anything up to 1.25v is perfectly safe if you can cool it. 1.3v is still considered safe but I'd personally rather not touch it.
