Hello,
i have a biostar G31D-M7 motherboard with an installed 2gb ddr2 PC2-6400 400mhz ram.
if i want to install another to my free slot will i have to buy a ram of same bandwidth.
please reply me for helping me with a quick decision

Assuming you meant of the same frequency rather than "of same bandwidth", the answer is yes, both the RAMs must be of same frequency, else both the RAMs will be running at the slowest ones frequency and thus wasting some performance.
