Have you tried clearing your phone's cache and/or Gallery Thumbnails?
To clear cache, go into the Storage section of the Settings app and tap on the "Cache" bar. It'll ask you whether or not you'd like to clear it. Confirm the action and reboot the phone.
To clear Gallery Thumbnails, get a file explorer app that is capable of showing hidden folders and files (my personal favorite being ES File Explorer) or hook the device up to a PC via an USB cable. Look for the DCIM folder on both your SD card and Internal storage. Inside, there should be a hidden .thumbnails folder. Delete and reboot.
If neither of those work, try installing SD Maid from the Play Store. Run it and clean everything (don't worry, no valuable data is lost). If the issue still persists, find the Gallery app inside the App section under Settings and clear its data (again, this does not delete anything valuable), then reboot.
