As per the title, the base clock on my cpu (FSB, reference clock, not sure what to call it) appears to have overclocked somehow while I was playing a game. I've never seen this happen before and I've had this cpu for ~4 years now.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I'll start off with those.

The program that is showing the readings in the screenshot is HWInfo64,
The "maximum" values are the ones I'm talking about being overclocked while I play the game. The Bus speed goes from 245 (which is what is set in the BIOS) to 265. I can't say if this is a recurring issue, I've only noticed it today. I'm also not sure For how long these readings were taken, I will probably test a little more thoroughly later on using the graph functionality in HWInfo64 and update this thread
The name of the game I was playing when these readings were taken is "The Crew", a racing game.
Is it possible that the game itself has somehow managed to overclock my CPU or something? Perhaps another software piece is doing this?
If not, I would imagine this is a hardware issue?
Details of the PC the problem occured on:
AMD Athlon x4 640 (overclocked to 3.3GHz stable, tested in prime95 and OCCT)
Biostar N68S3+ motherboard
Seasonic S12 620W psu
AMD r7 260x GPU (overclocked also by roughly 15%)
2x4GB Patriot g2 RAM
PNY 120 GB xlr8 SSD (game is installed on SSD)
Hitachi 500gb HDD
Windows 7 64 bit Home edition
Anything else you'd like to know please ask I'd be more than happy to provide further details.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
