I have an Asus ultrabook with the Intel Core i7-4500U CPU and I recently noticed, that the CPU is currently clocked much higher than it should be (currently it's running at around 2800 MHz), even though I never overclocked it. How do I bring the ultrabook back to it's default clocking?

Solution
what applications are you running if you are watching a video that requires adobe flash expect you cpu to ramp up (youtube by default uses flash). The reason for that is flash is very power hungry. I would recommend getting a laptop fan they run around 15-20 and sit right under the laptop providing extra cooling

It's causing it to overheat and is eating the battery.

I am not running any heavy applications and power saving mode doesn't help either.
