In shadow of Mordor I have a huge fps drops and it sometimes drops to zero fps and stays for a while and then gradually goes up until it reaches the max fps of my screen. Is this because of the cpu bottlenecks ( I have an I3 2120) or because the card is defective? I have the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming

definitely because of your cpu, you have and older version of dual core cpu, not even Ivy bridge or haswell and the game requires quad core CPU .. plus, you have a huge bottleneck with your current cpu
