WD My Book Essentials hard drive wont connect.

It was working fine. Now when I plug in the USB, it makes that chime sound that a USB device makes when it is connect and disconnected. Seems the hard drive is flickering on/off or something. Tried with a different laptop (in case my USB 3.0 were corrupt)... same thing.... my other USB 3.0 devices work fine (so laptop USB 3.0 drivers are fine). Think maybe the power supply is shot? Other than replacing the power cord, any other ideas (I don't have another available, could get one online, but that will take a few days to deliver.

Solution
Hey there, MachinoTime!

So sorry to hear about your connectivity issues with the WD My Book Essentials. :(
It's most probably a faulty USB cable indeed.
I'd recommend to get in touch with our tech support and tell them about the problems you've encountered with the external HDD.
If your product is still under warranty, they can assist you with a replacement power cord for it.

Hope this helped! :)
