$950 PC Build for Gaming, Rendering and Recording

I use Blender too, and do not get an AMD card. They don't work for 3D rendering.
I don't know what the exact stats will be for this build, but that GTX 780 is the absolute best card you can get with a budget of $950.

Please note: The above chart is for 2560x1600 resolution, so the card should actually be even faster on 1080p. Also, this does not include live recording.

If your friend is willing to spend a little bit more, I would upgrade the CPU to an FX-8350 or up the GPU to a GTX 970.

What kind of rendering? If you mean 3D rendering (like Vray or Cycles) I would get an Nvidia card.
