Why is CPU More Important in Video Editing and Rendering?

Because the GPU's job is to render them to be SHOWN in real time in a screen, whereas a rendering software does it to SAVE it in a file to be later reproduced, and for that matter the CPU x86 architecture performs better, having said that, Nvidia's CUDA and ATI(AMD) Stream technologies are changing that towards the GPU, but of course that depends if the software and the target format of your choice support such technologies.

So it basically arranges everything for the actual dispaly rendering?
