Hi guys. I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm not that great with computers as my late father sorted it all out for me. I'm looking for a new laptop in the $600 range and keep getting different opinions from different stores (AMD quad core, I3/I5 core etc). I currently have a 5 year old ASUS which has served me well and before that i had an ACER which was the biggest piece of crap. I use my laptop for browsing the web, a small amount of photoshop, transfer and converting of movies/shows on the home network (between other computers in the house) etc. The screen size would need to be a minimum of 15.6 inches as well. Thanks guys!

Hi LJ. I'm thinking ASUS as that's what i'm used to unless you think there's something out there better? Not interested in touchscreen or gaming :) Thanks.

I usually don't know a lot about Asus, and I'm not a computer expert so... You might want to see other people's suggestions. But, I found two nice computers, with touchscreens though...
They both are on Amazon.com, you might get a better deal elsewhere but I was too lazy to find one. :(

1. Dell Inspiron i3542-6666BK 15.6-Inch Laptop(http://www.amazon.com/HP-15-p030nr-15-6-Inch-Special-Edition/dp/B00KB3MXH4/)

AMD A8-5545M 1.7 GHz 4 core CPU,
8 GB DDR3L SDRAM,
1 TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive, 15.6-Inch Screen,
AMD Radeon HD 8510G graphics,
Windows 8.1

2.HP 15-n047cl Pavilion Touchsmart 15(http://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Touchsmart-Touchscreen-generation/dp/B00H0BQJY8)

4th generation Intel Core i5-4200U Processor, 1.6GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz
6GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM)
750GB 5400RPM hard drive,
CD/DVD Reader and Writer
15.6-inch HD BrightView LED-backlit touchscreen display (1366X768),Intel HD graphics 4400
Windows 8 64-bit

Basically, the second one has the better CPU, the first one has more RAM and more space on the hardrive, their Graphic processors are basically the same, and they both have Windows 8.

Personally, I think you might be good with a $350 computer like this one:

Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310(http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-Laptop-A8-Series-Memory/dp/B00PD9PN64/)
AMD Quad-Core A8-6410 Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon R5 graphics
15.6" LED-backlit high-definition widescreen display
4GB DDR3L memory / 500GB Hard Drive
Windows 8.1 64-bit / WLAN 802.11b/g/n

You can probably get the Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310 for $300 on Bestbuy or something.
