I want to learn absolutely everything their is to know about computers and I feel the motherboard is the bets place to start. I've been looking online and haven't found 1 article on motherboards and their functions/functions of all their components. The only worthy article is the one on HowStuffWorks.com but I feel its missing some things as well as not going as in depth as I'd like it to be. I'm aware of how long this will take me and the effort I will have to put in and I assure you that is not an issue.

Please help!

I've been building systems for over 25 years. And every day I spend here at Tom's helping solve issues and digging into systems, in addition to the stuff I do in the real world, so to speak, the more I realize I don't know. Every day it seems I know less than I did the day before, when in reality I'm just realizing more each day how much more there is to learn.

I don't agree that trial and error is the way to go though. Read, re-read, ask questions and then proceed to making mistakes, which will happen regardless of what you read or what classes you take. It's just a fact of life.

If you just want to become a consultant just read http://www.amazon.com/Upgrading-Repairing-22nd-Scott-Mueller/dp/0789756102/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1418543926&sr=1-4 it will be the newest version of his book which he updates will all current info and takes out the old unless it is necessary to learn about it. It will come out on in April but if you want something right away you can buy the 21st edition right now. If you just want to work at some computer repair store I would just get a book on A+ http://www.amazon.com/CompTIA-220-801-220-802-Deluxe-Simulator/dp/0789751755/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1418543926&sr=1-7 The same person that wrote the book I originally linked co-authored this one as well and it has all current information.
