Hi All,

I'm currently having an issue with my gigabyte F2A88X-UP4 and AMD Athlon X4 860k. It does not POST and there is no output to my monitor. I've read that my bios might be out of date, but i'm not sure how to upgrade it using the methods on the gigabyte website with no display. I am using a known good graphics card, Sapphire R7 260x and known good RAM.

the DB port shows the code 5d.

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

Late to respond, but if anyone has this problem in the future I found that the CPU was only supported in BIOS version F6, and my board only came with F4 installed. Way to update it is to get a CPU that is supported (list on the manufacturer site w/ version of BIOS that supports it), then update...

Do you know which revision your motherboard is? POST codes may vary from different revisions (for revision 3.0, the manual says 5D is "reserved," whatever that means).

Also, if I was in your situation, I would call Gigabyte to inquire if there is a way you can update the bios without the CPU.

Hi Ihog,

thank you for the reply!

I have rev 3.0 of the motherboard. Yes i checked the manual, and saw the code meant reserved. I was just curious if anyone knew anymore information on it.

thanks again.

Way to update it is to get a CPU that is supported (list on the manufacturer site w/ version of BIOS that supports it), then update the BIOS then install your CPU. If you don't have another FM2/FM2+ CPU you have to either send it to Gigabyte or a local repair place, as far as I could tell.

That's the exact solution I had to use to get my 860k up an running.
