I built a computer last year in october, since then if has been out of commission most of the time since I got it. I would end up having a fatal error with windows within a week, I would search for a solution but would end up doing a fresh install of windows every time. Recently when attempting to wipe the partition on the drive and reinstall with the 64 bit disk all the options were greed out so I put the 32 bit disk in. I installed 32 bit a few days later after forgetting I had put it in the disk tray. After installation the computer ran fine I could use it without any crashing or burning. However I have 16gb of ram so I needed to use 64 bit, once 64 bit was installed the whole computer went to ****. I have constant crashing and after a few reboots the computer just went black. Does anyone know why 32 bit is running great and 64 bit seems to have issues, and should o just upgrade to windows 8?

How did u install this win64 finally, was it upgrade from win32? If it was an upgrade obviously it can f... things up especially when you installed 32bit drivers first. Second of all i would try Memtest86 first... there might be some issues with that RAM.

it's possible that one or more of your RAM modules are faulty, since 32bits only uses 4GB it must have been using only your first RAM module, once installing 64bits version you're using all of them including possibly a faulty one.

Test each module individually with memtest86+ to find out which one (if any) is faulty.

Download Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) and test your memory. You may have 1 or more bad sticks of RAM, or, there may be a fault on the motherboard.

1. Test each stick of RAM individually in each slot.
2. Test pairs, again, in each slot.
3. Test in threes and fours (if you have that many).

Let the tests run no less than 3 complete cycles.

It could be as simple as your 64-bit install disk is damaged. Have you tried downloading and burning a new DVD?

I think this may be it ill report back in a few after I have tried this out. I ran memtest before because the blue screens were reporting memory errors, but all my ram dims are okay.
