Hi, so I have this laptop, which I have been using for 3 years at the high school I went to. I have paid it off and they kept the deposit which allowed me to keep the laptop.

So for some stupid reason I changed the domain name, since I thought "why still be in the domain when I'm no longer going there?" which was a pretty stupid idea. I have quite a bit of files which I don't really want to lose on that computer.

So my question is now, how do I access the laptop? Would contacting the IT guy at the school help? and in that case, what should I tell him?

Thanks
(Wasnt sure if I should put this under software, systems, networking or what not)

Take the laptop to school it with proof of ownership
Ask them to change to work group assuming you no longer wish to logon at school
Also ask for local admin password to be changed and given to you
Also ask for any bios passwords to be cleared or changed & given to you

They won't want you to know these original passwords which are likely to be same for many systems
