What if I was doing a bit of both? Then which one?

I would still go with the i5 unless you are using big projects or need it for work

lol, what would you possibly be using 32GB of RAM for? and 1000w PSU? Are you planning to go 4 way SLI?

I was thinking more Ram would increase fps, but i'm not entirely sure; and I plan on doing a 2 way SLI later on down the road.

Here, this is a much better build and it is cheaper for both gaming and video editing. Just take off the monitor that you don't want, I chose 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 60Hz, whichever you want to choose, just drop the other. Then you can add the other peripherals that you need, the mobo I chose has wifi ac built in, so you don't need adapter. 16GB is enough for you, 32GB is a lot for just games and small portion of video editing.

More RAM doesn't increse FPS. RAM just makes things snappier and you need more for things like photo and video editing. And I would get an 800-ish watt PSU for 2 way sli

If you are planning on keeping your cpu for as long as possible, the i7 might give you an extra 1 or 2 years of effective life time (If we're talking 5+ years).

Saying the i7 doesn't bring anything to the table regarding gaming is quite untrue, the i5 is just able to max every game in the same way at this time.

If the extra $100 is spent on a better gpu you should go with the i5, but if it's spent on beer, do pick the i7. :)

I noticed some of the parts you picked out have bad reviews on them.

And which one might that be? All of them has 4.6+ star review rating on them.

Which other site? Like Amazon or Newegg? If a site has bad reviews on an item, go to another site that has better reviews to get it. I always get my parts from Amazon, I always get good products from them, if they're defective, they have great customer service and I can refund the whole thing immediately or replace and get here in 2 days.

Also, how much performance increase does the Sli 970 have to a single 980?
