My SSD recently crashed and it had my windows 8 installed on it, now my BIOS is not recognizing the SSD at all. I am wondering if maybe the SSD is in need of an update to firmware?
I have the OCZ Vector SATA III 128gb version, and I am seeing an update on their site for the Vector, version 3.0 released July 2nd, 2014...I haven't updated the SSD since I bought it in 2013..

Could this be the problem? If so, how can I get this firmware onto a USB drive off of my macbook air? (only other computer i have available) and will it work this way? thanks

Solution
Samsung 840 EVO drives are great - using one right now and it's been fast and reliable. A 250GB version can be had for $120 so I'd go with that.

Hmm was hoping it didn't die, means I lost all my installed games and pictures and what not...
Is there any chance of getting a refund maybe? Ive seen something called "RMA" tossed around but I don't know what it entails..

RMA = return merchandise authorization

RMAs usually only apply in a small time span after you bought the product brand new. So, unless it's been less than 30 days (which it's not in this case) this is not an option.

And you're not getting a refund over a year out from the original date of purchase.

The other thing you can do, which is the best option, is email OCZ and ask for a warranty replacement.

alright, i did email them already, hopefully they feel like being in the christmas spirit haha...

I don't think id buy an OCZ again though..have you got any recommendations on any newer (2014-2015) SSDs? I haven't been keeping up with the tech lately and looks like ill need a new SSD...looking around the $100-$150 dollar range!
