Hello, first off I've tried other games i.e The Crew, Mirror's Edge, Crysis 2, Trackmania 2 and I am able to max them out and get +60fps.

But this is different with Crysis 1, I mean I just get the same frames (40-50) using the lowest and the highest settings available (AAx16, VH, vsync, etc).

Strangely enough I get 117 fps average when running the benchmark. What's up? :(

I got an i5 4690 and 8gigs of ram. My temps are fine and so is my PSU!

I'm running a 1680x1050 monitor, and can't go any higher than that sorry

40-50 fps on Crysis 1? Doesn't sound drastically off to me, though you should be able to reach 60 fps quite easily. Remember that this game's engine isn't very optimized. Disable AA completely to smoothen things out slightly.

Yeah I mean, I've tried it with AA off and with AAx16 and it's exactly the same frames, I've tried everything in the lowest config possible as well. I don't know, this worries me a lot actually :( . (not because of the low framerate but rather because of the same frames in every graphical setting)

I'd rather have not tried it at all, now I'm worried to death :(

Anyone has a solution or something? Why does this stupid game give me the same low fps in all settings!!!

If it's just the one game I'd not bother too much about it, Crysis was always a bit twitchy and, like I said, I just can't get it to run at all, not even the demo!
Usual pesky rules apply, though:
Update the sound and motherboard drivers-if updates are available.
If you swapped from an AMD card use Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode to make sure all the old software is removed then reinstall the current drivers, using the 'clean install' option.
Check for, and apply any patches for the game.
Run DXdiag Start>search programs, type DXdiag in the search box and click on the icon that appears in the search pane to run the diagnostic.

Yes I'm gonna try Crysis 3 and report back, I got Crysis 2 and It runs fine. I built this PC not too long ago (like a week) and did a clean Win8.1 install. and Yeah I installed all the latest drivers for video audio and the motherboard.

I've benchmarked Mirror's Edge, I found it weird that I got more FPS with no AA and low settings than when the game is maxed out and using AAx8Q in one of the tests , should I be concerned?

Okay I've tried Crysis 3 with this specs (1680x1050) i5 4690 , 8gb of ram and a gtx980 using these settings:

Got 39-50fps , is that fine?

I've also run Unigine Heaven 4.0

Been out drinking, hence the delay in replying. ;)
The Crysis 3 and Heaven scores look OK to me, it's a little odd your system gets higher FPS at the higher settings in Mirrors Edge, though. Still, with a minimum of more than 120 FPS I wouldn't be inclined to worry...Celebrate yes, worry, no.
Try to be a little less heavy handed with the AA! It is still the fastest way to decimate the frame rate, no matter how powerful the graphics card...

I see, thank you for your reply. I think I'm a tad relieved now. Still I disabled my Integrated graphics card which was enabled as well. I'm gonna try Crysis 1 now to see if it works properly.!!

I compared Heaven scores with another guy who has the same card and numbers were pretty similar. He has an i5 @3.30ghz but he got like 1k more for some reason (He got 1943 and I got 1855)

I've also disabled the Intel Graphic Processor in Periphericals (I got a Z97X gaming 3 Gigabyte motherboard) Do I need to disable anything else for the processor GPU to be disabled completely? or the discrete card

Hey, I see. I disabled it because it still showed up in Benchmarks (3DMark and Heaven).

I tried Crysis 1 with the latest beta drivers (347.09) (Take a look at the GPU usage %)

I know it's a badly optimized game but this isn't right!

Hey man Chill...

I got nearly the same problem !!! I have the G1.Gaming version of the GTX 980... Here is whats happening (Its a cause of bad optimizing and I think it has to do with using an HDTV) :

Very High (x8 AA) : 52 fps (average) : 65% Gpu uasge
Very High (x0 AA) : 52 fps (average) : 60% Gpu usage
Medium (x8 AA) : 75 fps (average) : 35% Gpu usage
Medium (x0 AA) : 75 fps (average) : 30% Gpu usage

Also the TV resolution state gives me (1080.. 24fps) and I can't set it to PC visuals....
so if I turn the Vsync on I will be stuck with 24fps...
+ The card makes a wierd sound once I start the game... (0% GPU usage)...has to do with the TV signal

on the other hand in Crysis warhead I get an avg of 72fps... with Ultra settings (x8 AA) 90% gpu usage !

For the sake of asking, are you using a monitor with a low refresh rate? I ask because i usr a 1080p tv as my monitor and recently started playing crysis 2 again. I was getting terrible frames in full screen with v-sync on. I then realized that crysis sets refresh at 24hz in full screen, regardless of forced 60 hrz setting in nvidia control panel. I have strix 980 and i often use vsync cause i cant stand video tearing. I cant afford a gsync panel so for now i have to deal with no vsync.

Well, base on my experiences, I think Crysis is poor AI optimization and not utilize the quad core properly, not because your cpu is not powerful enough, but the game itself has bad-optimization. If you engage a bunch of enemy and combat, you will see the frame rate is very unstable, it's like dropping from 60fps to 40fps (No matter lowest or highest settings). But if you encounter the same bunch of enemy and they are relaxed (not in the combat stance: holding their weapons and walk around to find you out), your frame rate will be 60fps consistently (most of the time). Hope this help. :)

I just did some test again. Yup, now I can 100% sure it is poor AI optimization. Because once I killed all the enemies, the frame rate is back to 60fps again. Now I hope someone can post a command to decrease the number of enemies or decrease the AI rendering, or whatever... Thanks in advance.
