Here's my build, if you're curious: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LYD6mG (this link contains both of the hdd's I'm considering and my ssd)

My question (as stated in the title) is which hard drive should I chose for gaming.

Hitachi deskstar: http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=9SIA67S2404376&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566

Seagate barracuda: http://m.newegg.com/Product?ItemNumber=22-148-840

(The price of the Hitachi on newegg is way more then it should be, pc part picker had them about the same price)

For me, both of those links send me to newegg's index page. It's not a deal though, I know both these drives.

You are going to get about the same performance with each drive with a slight nod to seagate. This seagate model is known to be variable. People have been reporting a large difference in performance between drives of the same model.

The hatachi drive you linked is a higher reliability drive. It comes with a longer warranty and mean time before failure.

I only know about that drive through benchmarks and reviews. I don't know any friends who have one so I cannot give you my own experience with the drive.

Based on what I do know, the Toshiba HDKPC03 isn't as good as the Seagate ST1000dm003. It's not as fast and it doesn't have a good track record for reliability.

If you are looking in the $55 price range, the Seagate you linked is a pretty good choice. I would also recommend the western digital blue or green.
