SSD Supplementing a 1TB hard drive.

I'm currently running a WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB hard drive on a ASRock Z97 mobo. I'm using the system for gaming, stuff like heavily modded Skyrim and Far Cry 3, should I expect to see any performance increases in a noticeable way if I add the SSD?

Yes the games would load faster although I wouldn't install every game on...

Performance as in FPS? No. But you will see that the games load faster, but that's about it. I would buy an SSD for your OS and other frequently used programs but keep the games on the HDD. The size of the games would require a large SSD. You can always download games like skyrim(ones that take forever to load) on the SSD but keep the rest on the HDD.

I`m not sure if this was tested, but the only improvement would be in loading times and reading the data from your SSD.
Also, the improvement would be noticeable only if you install the games on the SSD. Everything installed on the HDD will still maintain the same speeds.

Anyway, having an SSD is worth every penny from my POV.

I don't expect much in terms of FPS increases, even with how modded it is and displaying on my TV, I'm still getting 50-70 FPS depending on what location I'm in, but I'm talking about just load times and things of that nature. I was thinking of just adding the OS and maybe the steam program file.

Yes the games would load faster although I wouldn't install every game on there unless you want to pay for a 1tb SSD. So ya you can just put the OS and the steam program on the SSD and download the games onto your HDD or SSD if you have room and if you prefer it.
