I have gotten and old xp HP d530 Convertible Minitower
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/home/?sp4ts.oid=316720

Hardware Refernce manual.
http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=316720&docId=emr_na-c00059137&docLocale=en_US

With it i got 2x512mb ram placed in xmm1 and xmm3 (both single channel)

now im so lucky to get my hands on a 1gb ram module (single channel) and placed it in xmm2 (it works).

My questions then is if its woth for me pulling out the 2x512mb (from xmm1 and xmm3) and instead place my 1gb ram in xmm1 and the 512mb in xmm2 and xmm4.

I havent been able on the net to figure if i get some sort of better performance out placing/using my 1gb ram before my 2x512mb on the motherboard.

Hope i can get help
ty for your time and best regards,

Unless you are gaming it won't really matter, I've mixed sets of ddr2 in different channels before. With those lower speed memory modules I don't really think you would find a difference, you might just see a slight increase in browser performance but that is about it. I would just go with whatever works. The only thing to watch out for is low density memory modules, and high density modules. High density modules normally are found AMD boards, and Intel for those older sockets with ddr2 normally use low density. Some motherboards for both amd and intel do make an exception to this. So the performance won't be to different, so if you put them in test it with memtest86 don't get any errors or blue screens you are solid I know people who...

Ty for your answer and sry for the wait.

I found your answer as a solution and marked it as such. Since it pretty much tells it all.

Now just to be sure
.
I dont have a graphiccard only the integrated Extreme Graphics 2 (i think its that one).
The only thing i use it for is Firefox/Chrome browsing and youtube for musik.

So i might actually gain a little bit of browsing performanc in firefox/chrome if i place the 1gb ddr first ?

If that happens to be the case looking at my hardware reference (motherboard schematic/manual) how would i then have to place the 1gb and 2x512mb in xmm1-xmm2-xmm3-xmm4 for it to be installed the right way ?

Even though i find my question answered i think i want to make sure if its possible to get a slight browsing performance since its rather all it can be used for.

Best regards and ty again for your time,

Can i get you to look at my message again.

In short im asking if i get a slight increase in webbrowsing by placing 1gb first? just to be sure.

Next thing im asking is how do i place the 1gb and 2x512Mb in the socket for the motherboard to use it correctly.
When they are called xmm1-4.

What confuses me is xmm1 and xmm3 is "channel A" and xmm2 and xmm4 is channel B.

So other then putting 1gb in xmm1 im not sure where to place the 2x512mb.

Ty for your time

Ty for the answer Tradesman sounds a lot more like you now what youre talking about.
If i new how i would change best answer to you.

Since it seems like lfkfkfkffs is breaking the logic placement of the ram on the motherboard.
Telling me i should have 2x512 before my 1 gigabyte and placing it so its not in the correct channels.
Seems more like to me he actually wanted me to fail on the task. Or just make my pc slower....
seems wrong to me! Did he even look at my motherboard reference? Do lfkfkfkffs even now what hes talking about ?

So im gonna try and place the 1gb in xmm1 and 2x512 in xmm3-4.
And cross my fingers it'll be dual channel :D

Best regards and ty for explaining why i should place it like that on the board.

Seems to work having 1Gb in xmm1 and 2x512 in xmm3-4.

They are running in 333mhz (suppose its okay) single channel only (darm i had so much hoped for that dual part :D ).

My first youtube test's still only allowed 144p as highest video settings (without lag).
But atleast firefox, chhome and the system seemed to load a bit faster.

Im not really sure how much ive gained but a little i suppose is allways worth somehing :)
