Hi, I have 2 x 3.5" Hard Drives (Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 & Plus 9) from now defunct towers and I want to use my laptop to recover the data from them. However one of the drives seems to have an irregular pin configuration (Plus 9 drive). What cable do I need for it? Here's 2 pictures with an arrow pointing out the problem pin - sorry its a bit blurry! thanks

The easiest way would be to see if a friend has an old PC that has an IDE interface, or maybe someone with an ASRock MB as some of them have PATA ports on them. Then plug em in and put the data on a stick to get onto your laptop.

Or get this and plug them into your laptop one at a time for the data...

The enclosure would also power the drives, those pins are jumpers, this will explain what they are..

Master/Slave thing, just leave them as, change if necessary....

That link I provided includes a power brick adapter for the drive :)
