Afternoon all :)

I have an old(ish) system (Dell Inspiron 545) that crashed on me a while ago, and I've just rebuilt it from scratch.
Now I'm at the stage where the power light comes on the MoBo and when I press the power button all the fans (CPU, Case, PSU) spin up for a couple of seconds - then spin down again.

The Specs of the PC are :

- Dell T287N Motherboard
- Corsair CX600M PSU
- 8GB DDR2 (6400) Ram
- LGA775 CPU (the original Core2 Quad that came with the Dell system)

The only thing that's changed from the original Dell build and this one is the PSUand the motherboard - the Dell shipped with a N826N Mobo, and the replacement I'm using is the T287N - which I've been told is a drop-in replacement for the N826N...

I've read and re-read the "no post, no video, checklist" (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems), and followed all the steps.

One interesting thing I've noted in my diagnostics is that removing the 12v ATX supply from the MoBo does keep the fans spinning longer - but obviously the system won't POST without this supply either.

Removing all the RAM gives me the typical "I'm missing all my memory" beep-codes, but any of the 4 DIMMS in any of the 4 slots reverts back to the "2secs fan spin and stop" mode...

Any advice gratefully received :)

Cheers,
Rob.
