Hi guys , i want to buy a ATI Radeon HD 6970 video card for my PC and i want to know if it's compatible with my motherboard or other pc components .
CPU : AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+ DUAL CORE 3.0 GHZ
ACTUAL GPU : NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 520 1.GB DDR3
RAM : 2.5 GB DDR2
POWER SUPPLY : 450 W .
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS M2V - TVM
THANK YOU .

The card is compatible with the CPU and motherboard but a few points:
You will have to upgrade the power supply, no 450 Watt unit I know of has the 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin PCI-E power leads a HD 6970 requires and running a power hungry card like the HD 6970 off a 450 Watt PSU with molex/PCI-E adaptors would be plain suicidal.
Why the HD6970? Something like the R7 260/HD7770/GTX750 require a fraction of the power and offer DX11 features-In fact I'd say the GTX750 would be your best bet, most don't use an extra power lead, so no need to worry about the power supply.
Of course there's always the issue of price...:(

Yeah you are right so instead of buying this video card and a new power supply you recommend to buy these series ? these series will be compatible with my 450 w source ?

A lot depends on the monitor resolution.
If you are playing on a 1080 monitor I'd go for the GTX750 (not the 'Ti' version) or the R7 260 (not the 'X' version) if the monitor rez is lower or money is tight.
Check the specs carefully, a lot of cards like these use cheaper, and much slower, DDR3 memory, avoid them, and make sure any card you check does not need a 6 pin PCI-E lead.
That old dual core Athlon is going to be a severe restriction, particularly in the current games so don't expect the upgraded system to play super demanding titles at anything more than medium or low settings.
