Hi , I was going to buy a MSI GTX 970 probably the Golden Edition and I was wondering if I should stick to my current card and wait to see what AMD has to offer . My current card is a MSI TWIN FRORZ HD 7870 . If I wanted to wait , how long would it take for AMD to bring their new cards out .

Thanks!

you should buy the gtx 970

but r9 300 will be faster, cheaper, cooler and use almost same power tdp as the gtx 900 series

anyways.. if you wait, you will be waiting forever since they always compete for better cards

i say get the 970.. but you can wait.. its not too far

If your not in a hurry and just ready for a faster card then I would wait, or not...........

That said we shall expect at least 5 graphics cards in first quarter of 2015: R9 390(X) (Fiji), R9 380(X) (Hawaii) and GTX 960 (GM204). As for GM200 (TITAN II) we are still waiting for solid information. The 380x should fall into the price range of the 970 so prices should adjust down a bit for the 970 or the 380x will out perform it for the same money.

Well the thing is I need a new card before the GTA 5 comes out . and I really doubt that the AMD's 300 is going to be out before that , would it ?

Speaking about the future, any word about GTX 960s competition?

gta V will be coming january 2015

300 series , if everything goes smoothly as planned for them, will be released before march 2015

One other thing that I am concerned about is the power consumption on the new AMD cards . because AMD is not very good in that area and I have a CX 600W corsair PSU and since my budget is very limited I don't think I can afford a new PSU to go with the new AMD card .

the r9 300 series are rumored to use same power as the gtx 980

As in a new mid range RX 3XX card from AMD, no not really. It is said to fall in the $250-$300 range, with the 970 at $330 my guess is around $265. Spec wise it looks close to a 970M and performance of a 770 area maybe using less power. I guess all AMD needs to do is adjust the pricing of the 280x or 290, the 380x (XTX they say) should out perform a 290x. We should know all about it around Jan 6th when they bring it out for show and tell.
