Thoughts on the Corsair RM650 PSU?

Hi everyone,

I have a seasonic PSU right now, but I am not happy with the noise, so I will be putting it in an extra computer I have to replace a no-name PSU. This means I need to get a new PSU for my main rig which runs an overclocked 3570k and an overclocked GTX 980. I am going to buy this one at microcenter because I have a gift card, and in case I need to return it.

They didnt have any tier 1 PSUs that were within my budget or power requirements, but I did find a Tier 2A, the Corsair RM650. I just wanted to get a few thoughts from people regarding common complaints I have read.

1. Is the 24pin connector really that bad? People say it doesnt click into place, and corsair suggests an RMA. Does this mean it was fixed in later revisions?
2. I was reading that there is a certain production lot prone to failure/DOA. Is there any way I can check the lot number on the box?
3. I am really bothered by noise. How realistic should my expectations be for the silence of this PSU? My seasonic was supposed to be silent, but its the loudest component of my computer. I like that you can control the fan through LINK, and it turns off below a certain load.

Thanks

Solution
The CX series are more known for the poor 24 pin clip , although there area few complaints from the RM series as well.

The RM650 is a decent power supply.

It's suppose to be a quirt power supply , but I have never owned one.

Thanks for the response.
I did some more research at microcenter and noticed that for near the same price I can get the EVGA Supernova G2 750, which is a tier 1. I will most likely be getting that one now.
