I'm getting a new headset and i was looking to buy myself some decent ones this time.
Not super expensive, but atleast decent quality.
(was usually going with simply conventient headsets for max 50 euros)
Now, i'm a Mad Catz fan when it comes to their mice cause of the looks, so i was thinking of going with a Mad Catz F.R.E.Q. 7.

Now my questions are about the compatibility with my soundcard.
I have a Xonar DG 5.1 sound card cause i love to listen to music on my PC and the quality increase is great cause i had a Realtek ALC887 integrated all the time.
Now this Headset has both a 3.5mm plug and a USB plug, (either one, can't have both at the same time.)
So will my Sound Card go to waste if i plug it into a USB slot?
Will the 7.1 go to waste if i plug it into my sound card ports?
Wich of them will produce better sound?
Or, should i get a different headset alltogether?
Advice from someone who knows something about audio stuff would be very appreciated, cause i am definitly not that person.
