This is my laptop: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c04108512

Intel Core i5-3230M with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (2.6 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores, 4 logical processors)
NVIDIA GeForce 820M (1 GB DDR3 dedicated)
500 GB 5400 rpm SATA
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM

I want to play Battlefield 4 but the framerate keeps dropping and sometimes it just freezes for a second or two.
I can play BF3 alright (medium settings 45-50 fps).
Could a RAM upgrade possibly help?

Solution
BF4 is a pretty demanding game because of how it was coded for the PC. The 820m is the issue not the RAM or CPU. RAM may help a bit but you'll have to get a laptop with a faster video card to play BF4 well. Although you are running on low settings on low resolution, so it's likely if BF4 was a bit better on it's performance it will run OK.

You have a combination of a poorly done PC port and a video card that is just slow enough to cause issues.

OK so im going to get 4 GB RAM from my moms laptop temporarily and see if it makes a differences.
@Brunostako , Im already playing at the lowest settings at 1366x768, any lower will make it look too ugly.
