bought an AMD Radeon r7 260x and then later upgraded to the r9 290x, can i crossfire the two to get 6gb vram, or bad idea?

RAM is not additive in CFX/SLI as it is mirrored and will use the lowest spec'd card. Example: 2GB+2GB=2GB. 2GB +1GB = 1GB.

These two cards cannot CFX anyway.

oh right ok, thank you.
i'll be instaling the 290x then!
but if i were to geet another 290x sometime in the future would it matter if i use the MSI one i have now with, say a sapphire 290x?

Brand won't matter but be sure they have same amount of RAM so it's not wasted.
