Samsung EVO SSD and Abit IP35 Pro

Has anyone successfully installed a Samsung EVO SSD as a boot drive on an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard? This board does support AHCI, and it is enabled. The board detects the SSD when plugged into a SATA connection. The Samsung Data Migration software clones my hard drive to 100%. When it verifies it I get this error message: " Cloning Failed Target disk has been disconnected -00001 (ffffffff). I've done it three times and get the same result. The hard drive was defrag'ed before the clone.

Just for the fun of it I went into the bios and saw that the drive is there, but not among those able to be selected for booting. Then I looked at the drive in Windows 7 and the hdd and the ssd are both there with the same contents.

Any help would be appreciated.

ADDED: I just ran the Samsung Magician Software and was able to performance test the SSD and the HDD. Therefore, the SSD must be running the software I'm accessing on it.

The only other suggestion I have is to Secure Erase the SSD (if you haven't tried that already) and try the Data Migration again.
A Secure Erase restores any SSD to a blank, fresh-out-of-the-box condition.

If that doesn't work hopefully other Forum members will have suggestions that will fix your problem.

Thanks for responding. I looked over the list again and about the only thing that would apply to my system is that it is dual boot. I used EasyBCD to manage that. I uninstalled that, disconnected the drive with Linux on it and the SSD, rewrote the mbr using the Windows 7 installation disk. I still gives me the same error when I try to clone the disk.

Interestingly, even though I did the above, windows 7 still lists Windows 7, Windows 7 restored (the ssd), and Linux on the "System Startup" interface. I'm wondering if I'll need to wipe the mbr in order to get rid of them, or maybe they are in the registry or config files somewhere.

Anyway, after doing all the above, I don't think that the dual boot is the issue.

EDIT: Since this posting, I reinstalled EasyBCD and corrected the mbr so only the C: Windows 7 is on in there. I reattached the SSD, same result.

Well, since I haven't seen anyone respond that they've successfully used this SSD with this motherboard as a boot drive, I'm tempted to disconnect the hd and do a fresh install of Win 7 on the SSD. If the motherboard allows it to boot, then I know that it isn't a waste of time to try to clone the hd onto it.

I'm going to mark this as answered because I was able to accomplish my last plan, which was to disconnect my HD, load Win 7 on the SSD from the installation disk, then rebooted. The motherboard automatically detected the SSD as a bootable disc and booted.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop that I put my Samsung SSD 850 EV0 500GB drive into. After failing three times (getting the "Cloning failed. Target Disk has been disconnected. -00001[ffffffff]" message, it occurred to me that my antivirus software might be treating my project as a threat and blocking it. So, I turned off my Internet access (to block the outside world from messing with me while my guard was down) and then stopped my anti-virus protection. It worked! I started the cloning process again (number 4 now) and it went smoothly right to the end. Swapped out my drives and everything fired up just fine. Turned my anti-virus back on and my computer now works as before, but a whole lot faster. Success!

I hope this works for you, too.
