Would two GTS 450 1GB cards in SLI mode be better than GTX 750 1GB?

System specs:
AMD FX-6300 6-core processor OC'd to 3.7GHz/core
MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard
8GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM (2x4GB)
120GB SSD Drive
Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 1GB
Viotek 550W PSU

My question is, if I purchase another GTS 450 1GB card and SLI it, will I have better performance than buying a single GTX 750 1GB? Or should I just buy the 750? And if I should buy the 750, what would be the pros and cons of using the 450 as a dedicated PhysX card? Thanks for the input!

At 1080p and below, the SLI 450 will generally outperform the single 750.

This is a year old, but still relevant to modern cards. IF most of the games you really want to play use PhysX, then a dedicated PhysX card makes a big difference.

Keep in mind there aren't a ton of modern games that use PhysX.

Agreed on the PSU.

lol, If you can find a more current article about SLI 450's, please post it. You must've hardly glanced at it, as there are well over a dozen cards compared in that review.

If you know your video cards well, you know where older cards perform relative to newer ones.

If you don't know your video cards, you can consult tom's chart they post every month with the "best cards of the month" article....

The cards you should focus on in the 450 sli review are the GTX 465, the HD 5850, and the gtx 470. The 465 is a little slower than the 750, the 5850 is about even and the 470 is a little faster..

750 and 750 Ti are two different cards. OP is talking about 750, not the Ti version.
