Hmm, ill throw my opinion at you.. I advice against going amd right now.
Main reasons for this is im running the fx8350 with an asus crosshair v an im highly considering switching over to intel because im struggling keeping 60 frames in a few games i play at higher settings with a gtx 970.

Well AMD has better clocking and unlocking ability, it's better with multithreaded games, better with video editing (so basically multitasking because of all if its cores).

hmm, good points there. But im also considering making the jump to move on into ddr4 as well...
I feel as if he would have a better time on a strictly gaming speaking move to go with intel on the setup

Well switching to ddr4 would be very expensive and honestly it complements AMD very well with its ability to lower power consumption.
