AMD FX-6300 Temps Reading Low

I am concerned that my FX-6300 temperatures are reading incorrectly. It is paired with the CM 212 Evo cooler on the GigaByte GA-970A-D3 board.

I am currently at an overclock of 4GHz up from the stock 3.5GHz. At idle my motherboard socket temp is reading at 27C which is entirely believable. However, at idle, the core temp on the cpu is reading as low as 10C. After a few minutes of Prime95 Small FFT torture test, my socket reads at 37C and the core temp reads at 34C.

I feel like these values are both too low to be accurate. Can I trust either of them?

Solution
That is just how the FX's are. They use an algorithm to calculate core temperature based of the CPU's power consumption as opposed to dedicated temp sensors within the die to relay temperature as in the previous generation Phenom II's. FX's are generally off by about 10c at idle through about 35-40c, after that the algorithm is fairly accurate within +/- 1c.

Run at least 1 hour of prime to generate load temps, the 212 is pretty decent a couple minute wont do it.

Having the same problem ran Prime95 blend for 8 hours temp doesn't want to go over 37C it only started after installing the Hyper 212X. I'm running at 4.0GHz Vcore: 1.40369v. Tried all temperature monitors (not at the same time) and they give same result. A Cooler Master sales rep on another forum told me to remove the thermal compound and reseat seat the cooler.

Well in my case I don't think that will work I have an Asus motherboard M5A78L-M/USB3

^ hwinfo64 monitors temps fine on that board.

I don't see how heatsink seating would have anything to do with abnormally low temps.
The 212 is a very good cooler & the 6300 does not run as hot as many would have you believe.
I would still expect 50-55c though under full load!
Are the speeds on all cores stable when running prime as the little hasus has no APM bios options or vrm sinks & can throttle badly sometimes.

Prime 95 small FTT for an hour

Why is my Vcore higher than the CPU over voltage set in BIOS and Vcore under load is lower than Vcore while idle

my multiplier is set for 4.0ghz but underload it runs at 3.9ghz. how can i fix this and get correct temp read. stupid questions can check temp by using a thermometer on the cpu cooler base.

have you tried the asus monitoring software that comes with the board ? its basic but gives fairly reliable temp readings.
failing that your physical temp sensors may well be faulty.
the 100mhz drop on clock speeds I have absolutely no idea mate, you have disabled turbocore in bios?
& Ill be brutally honest,I run the same board with a 6300 at 4ghz with no problems at all,its in a matx case with a big shuriken 2 which is not a patch on the evo & under stress ( I use intel burn test rather than prime) it gets to 62c after about 30 mins.I deem this acceptable as its a compact htpc case & cooling is not the best,
I havent touched voltages at all,my chip runs fine at stock, thnk it pulls just over 1.36v at full load.

I am running windows 8.1 cant find a compatible version of Ai Suite for my board.

Have an NZXT Phantom 410 and 5 fans all running medium. I could't play around with the vcore or any thing yesterday because my kid brother spilled milkshake on my keyboard and apparently the corsair K30 doesn't like strawberry milkshake.
