Yes, it will. It'll work just as any normal gamepad.
Most games nowadays also come pre-configured for the XBOX 360/one controller, so you don't even have to configure them to run.
Once you plug it in, depending on your Windows settings, it'll automatically download the latest drivers too.
However, keep in mind that some games might actually not be compatible with any gamepad at all, although they're very rare.

I have a Dualshock 3 controller, emulated to appear like an X360 controller on my PC. For some games its definitely worth getting a controller, cant imagine playing Dark Souls with Mouse and K/B.
