Solution

and if you search on google, you can find the infomation shows this mb good for gaming and overclocking too
so I will suggest gaming 5!

The Gaming 5 is definitely worth the money, the Gaming 3 is a bit overpriced if you ask me, doesn't even support SLI.
Also, the Gaming 5 is the best overclocker out of those three.

Have you considered other brands though? Like the Gigabyte Gaming 5.

I would go MSI Z97 Gaming 5,support SLI and more power phase than gaming 3.
but..if you won't SLI and would go mild ocing, maybe MSI Z97 Gaming 3 would be better..but just $10 different, gaming 3 will lack some feature (like sli and power phase),I rather to go gaming 5.

I have MSI z97 gaming 5,nice board.:)

What about the G45? is it worth the discount over the Gaming 5? (Yes I am overclocking with an extremely good cooler)

Gaming 5 would be better than G45 of overclocking, and have more better feature than G45(gaming 5 support M.2 and more faster max ram speed 3300MHz)

The Gaming 5 is better in overclocking but for the rest they're pretty much the same(apart from M.2).
Even the difference in overclocking will be small, you'll be limited by the CPU first rather than the motherboard. The gaming 5 is the more 'modern' motherboard though. If you want M.2 then go with Gaming 5, if not, I'd say go for the cheaper one out of those two.

When you say small, do you mean something like 200 MHz or 50MHz?

200Mhz isn't small, 50Mhz is. Yeah the difference may be in that 50ish range. I'm can't predict what the overclocking difference will exactly be because there haven't been allot of VRM information on the G45 released. But both boards has a strong 8-phase design. Difference should be minimal.

One thing to note, if that's important to you, the Gaming 5 comes with a debug LED. You know that's pretty handy when something is faulty.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. Also, on the website it says optional SATA Express in the specs. What does that mean?

I got the gaming 5 for cheap, and so far it's been great overclocking my i7-4790k. Well, I haven't done extensive overclocking, but it's great.

The thing is, (idk if it's just gaming 5) but the MSI board does feel a bit cheaper and flimsier than my AsROCK. When I put in my graphics card, it felt like the entire slot was just gonna fall off. Also feels like the board is just a little cheaper with certain parts.

Not a bad board however, and it has been performing quite nicely.
