Hi All

So I'm wiring up my new build, and the wires that ship pre-connected in the R5, like the power led, power switch, restart etc are all hooked up in the motherboard. However, in the bunch of wires, there are also other connectors, ones I'm not familiar with. Can anyone shed any light on what these are. They appear to be surplus, but i don't want to not connect them and power up if they are neccessary?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks in advance!

Were there instructions that came with the r5 that explain the connectors by any chance? Looking at the manual, you should have connectors for the power switch (pwr sw), power led+, power led-, hdd led (hard drive activity light), usb 3.0, usb 2.0, hd audio, reset switch - then it looks like an sata power cable from the psu connects to provide power to the fan controller.

The small plugs should be labeled with things like pwr sw, pwr+, pwr-, hdd, reset etc. It may be small so you might need to look closely. They're small plugs. If you didn't get an instruction manual with the case, here's a link to one.

Just scroll down until you find your case, the r5 manual is around 10mb and opens as a pdf.

There aren't really any clear markings on them. I will post up a pic this evening, maybe I can give a clearer idea as to what they are. I suspect they are extension plugs, or for fan controllers?

Hello friend,

I just bought an r5, and had the same question for a while. They're connectors for the fan system, the little switch hidden on the top left of the inside of the case panel. Plug the fans into those connectors instead of into the motherboard.
