Psu too large can i remove cd reader?

Hi im installing a new psu in my computer (corsair rm 650) but its larger than my previous one. This means that the space between psu edge and the cd reader's(which is next to it) might be too small for cable to fit in. Can i remove the cd reader from the computer since i never really used it?
What else could I do?

Case name/model? It's your call really, if you don't use it and it will fit just remove it.

Hi thank you for the reply, but as it turns out my pc case from hp doesn't let me remove the cd reader, and I'm afraid that if I#ll continue i will cause some damage.
I'll try sorting out for a new case or asking HP why I cant remove components.

You mean the instructions on page 7 of http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03870877.pdf don't work?

I managed after i tried again for a while...
Anyways, i decided to change case altogether, and bring the new components and the old pc to some shop to rebuild it for me.
Is there any requirements a case should have for a new corsair 650 psu and a new gtx 970 graphics card, or anything could do?

Nothing special, particularly if you select a case with a bottom mounted PSU and nothing in the area of the GPU; e.g., a Corsair 230T: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/graphite-series-230t-windowed-compact-mid-tower-case-battleship-grey

Fractal Design Midi's are nice, I have one myself, the stock fans are good too. Not too harsh on the price. Plenty of space for airflow and expansion HDD packs + room for a nice heatsink.
