Connecting a PS3 to a Samsung S23C350 Monitor, cannot detect input

Hi

I just recently purchased a PS3, and want to connect it to my Samsung monitor (S23C350) through HDMI. Problem is, I only get a "no signal". I plug the HDMI back to my PC, and the display shows my Desktop.

I have tried the ff.

1.) Held the Power button for 5 second to change the video output

2.)Swapped the ends of the HDMI cables, and made sure the ports on both the PS3 and the monitor are clean

That is pretty much it, I am planning to purchase a new cable to hopefully rectify this issue, but it is odd since the same cable works on my PC.

Any help would be appreciated!

I don't honestly know what to tell you then, not to much diagnosing can go into something like this. You tried HDMI to monitor and the AV cables to the TV which is kind of like a old reliable test. I think I would call the store that you bought it from and have them replace it for you, it just seems defective. You could try taking it to a used game store or a friends and have them try hooking it up, but that is about it. I owned the first and 2nd gen of the ps3 and they all worked fine through hdmi to monitor. Samsung monitor as a mater of fact.

At the moment, I only have the monitor. I do have a Sony Trinitron bought way back in 96... but that ancient thing is not showing anything if I try with the AV cables.
