Hi all, I recently started filming for a sketch group I started and I'm wanting to post the videos I make to youtube, but I'm missing a crucial item, a superb video editing computer, my budget is 700-800 for the rig and then I'll buy a monitor separately later, this would be my first time building one so any advice is much appreciated, I may dabble in gaming but not enough to make it a luxury, Also if I could have suggestions on a good monitor that would be awesome

I just built my rig, $760 i7 4790k 16 gb 1866 , gtx 760, z97-a board, Seasonic 660X, reused case, dvd drive and HD. Took me a month to slowly buy parts when prices dropped.

I went a different direction than most probably will. I didn't include a GPU and decided to spend the extra money on an i7 and 16GB of RAM. The integrated GPU will work well with software like Sony Vegas that supports Intel Quick Sync.

Thanks for all the help guys! Sorry about all the details too, I didn't know there was so many elements to a good computer, and as for an os, I would probably go for windows 8.1, and I was looking into the amd fx 8 core, Im gonna make an educated guess and say that falls into cpu?

You should stay in the Intel side this time. The FX 8-core will definitely do the job right, it will work as a low end i7 in some cases, but the FX is used only when you're restricted by the budget.

Your budget allows you to jump to a Intel 4-cores/8-threads CPU, which is better.

But it's up to you.

Sony Vegas, I know, can take advantage of gpu's, and AMD gpu's do better than Nvidia for it. Adobe, I believe has added gpu acceleration to their products as well.

You're welcome.

BTW, the Xeon I suggested is a 4-core/8-thread. 16GB RAM for good buffer and you have the option to add 16GB more. The GTX 750 Ti is a entry level card capable of 1080p mid settings gaming. You said video editing is the priority, so i didn't go with something higher. SSD for your boot and programs and 3 TB for your raw files.

Good luck.
