I'm looking for an upgrade to my actual R9 270x, so i'm looking between PNY GTX 760 and R9 280 and i don't know which one is better( i've been looking a while and saw that PNY 760 is slightly better than R9 280) but i'm using an AMD CPU (fx 8120).

So, should i buy a R9 280 (AMD + AMD , but less performance) or a GTX 760(Nvidia + AMD, more performance) ? Also, does the FX 8120 bottlenecks the GTX 760 ?

Mobo:Gigabyte ga-78lmt-s2
CPU: FX 8120 Black Edition

The link for both GPUs (PT-BR) (Only 2, because we have only a few options in brazil :( )

PNY GTX 760

R9 280

Sorry about my bad english ;(

Solution

here are some benhmarks for 760 vs 280

as you see, the 280 is a lil bit better in terms of performance

there will be no bottlenecks with the 8120 :)

but if you are not satisfied then you can overclock your cpu

Are you sure that you want to upgrade a 270X to a 280 or 760?
That would be a <20% increase, at least in fullHD, propably not worth the money to spent.

The FX 8120 should indeed bottleneck, if you want a performance upgrade, the money is better spent on a new CPU.
If you want to upgrade your FX to a 8350-like one or take some more money to buy an intel + new motherboard (then at least the unlocked i5 or an Xeon, else the FX would be the better choice in terms of P/L by far) is your choice.

I technically don't "have" my R9 270x, because i had a problem with it and sent it back to the store, then they sent some "credits" to spend in another products.

You're right, forgot the overclocking stuff... still not so sure about the 8150
Edit: Forget overclocking with that board even if your life would depend on it, I can't give a guarantee but it will possibly damage your hardware
If you don't already have the 270X go for the 280, it is also more futureproof with more VRAM if that matters to you

I have an FX 8320 running at 4.1GHz and a GTX 760 OC to 1.25Ghz core (ish). In some games they balance each other out pretty well. There's probably some bottleneck in there, but I love it for what I paid. If you like shadowplay and such I'd go with the nvidia card (main reason I went with it, also 3D animation work uses Cuda only).
