Are all Intel Coolers compatible with Socket LGA1150 CPU's?

I've just bought a G3220 and I got a cooler with it, however I have another stock OEM Intel cooler too which is brand new. To save myself from needing to buy thermal paste in the future, can i use this other one I have?

I don't know what socket it is however it looks the exact except a few minor things:

1. The circular bit where the thermal paste is, on my LGA1150 one that came with the G3220, this part is silver with the grey thermal paste over it, however on this spare one I have, it's a copper colour (probably because it is copper)

2.On top of the cooler with the intel sticker it says E97378-001, CN2F1112Q1, F90T12MS1Z7,-64A01A2, DC12V 0.20A, NIDEC

I don't have the LGA1150 one handy to show what it says on top however I can tell you the Amps are 0.28A not 0.20. WIll this be a problem?

Solution

It should not matter much.

If the mechanical design is otherwise exactly the same between your two heatsinks like mine are and this really bothers you, you can unclip the retention clip and fan assembly from one heatsink and put it on the other.

All LGA11xx sockets have the same HSF footprint. Not sure if the rest of the mechanical spec remained exactly the same between sockets though. The two spare stock HSF I have look identical except that one has the copper slug while the other does not.

The HSF with the copper slug should perform better overall since copper has higher specific heat to absorb heat spikes from the CPU and spread them more evenly around the aluminum fins.

THank you for your reply, however my concern is the Amps, the copper one runs at 0.20 whereas the standard one runs at 0.28. WIll this have any effect or issues on cooling my CPU?

What will the lower Amps physcially do to my CPU cooler, will it make the fan run slower or.. what?

It should make effectively no difference: the same HSFs shipped with i5 and i7 CPUs of their respective times. They should both be more than adequate for your CPU.

basically all makers of hs or wc coolers now can fit most modern types of cpu's , u should have no problem finding a decent cooler..just make sure u have enough mounting room for it, some motherboards limit the area around the cpu socket..in some cases only a closed loop water cooler like corsair h100 or lower will fit the motherboard cpu socket area when an air cooler won't fit.

as for the paste, i gave up on arctic silver and moved on to arctic nano diamond..it's more effective imo
